About Our Programs
Billie Hardee Home for Boys offers a variety of treatment programs to accommodate the specific social, behavioral, and psychological needs of our residents.
Our programs were developed to model proven methodologies that produce lasting results with the least amount of trauma to the child and their family.
In addition to our own internal evaluations, our overall effectiveness is monitored by the SC State Department of Social Services, the Office of the Governor (Continuum of Care, Program Evaluation Division) and the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Along with the many caring donations provided by community individuals and businesses, Billie Hardee Home for Boys has recieved numerous State, Federal, and Foundation grants and awards that attest to the ongoing success of our programs.
Clinical Day Program
The goal of the Clinical Day Program is to prevent more costly and restrictive treatment options and to provide an opportunity for young men to function successfully within their home and school environments. This is accomplished by providing an opportunity for them to gain insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors as they develop social and problem solving skills, while practicing techniques related to anger management and impulse control.
Residential Program
This program takes place during the time of day when kids are accustomed to getting out of school and coming home to do chores before the day ends. This structure is very new to the majority of our residents. Most of them come from backgrounds with no structure at all.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Equine assisted psychotherapy is an emerging field in which horses are used as a tool for emotional growth and learning. The boys learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses and subsequently processing feelings, behaviors, and patterns during specialized counseling.
Family Services
Billie Hardee Home for Boys acknowledges that family structure is the most important dynamic in our client's development and that it is essential for parents and family members to have a guaranteed role in relation to their child until the child reaches adulthood. In an effort to achieve this dynamic, Billie Hardee Home for Boys has developed a program that centers around a family's total involvement in their child's treatment process.
Dorm Life
Billie Hardee Home for Boys operates two "cottage" facilities, the Billie Hardee Cottage and the Darlington Pines Cottage, both of which offer a true college "dorm-like" setting. The cottages are actually traditional homes that have been specially renovated to accommodate teenage boys.
